The Center for Health Transformation was founded by Newt Gingrich. Over the last decade Newt has put a tremendous amount of effort into solving the health care problem. So love him or hate him he is one of the smartest guys in the room.
This link is a summary of the center’s plan for achieving universal coverage through the application of conservative principles and enablement of private enterprise. #7 on the Congressional “must do now” list is eliminating the tax deduction for company provided health care and instead giving every family a $15,000 health care tax deduction.
Much of the inefficiency in the health care system is imposed by our government's restrictions on free enterprise such as prohibiting individuals from purchasing insurance across state lines only increase overhead costs and restrict competition.
By using the tax code, eliminating free market barriers, and targeted government assistance we can insure every American economically without a draconian takeover of our health care system by the government.
